Orchid Focus Repotting Mix

The perfect peat-free growing medium for orchids

Orchids, when grown in a bark-based medium, should be repotted every 12-18 months. If they are grown in sphagnum moss, due to the relatively quick decomposition of moss they should be repotted every six months. Orchid Focus Repotting Mix is ideal to re-pot orchids. It is composed of graded bark, blended with coconut fibre chips of various sizes. This complex matrix maintains a superb balance of air and moisture and is ideal for most popular orchid species and hybrids.

Orchid focus Repotting Mix comes in sizes 3L and 10L.

Orchid Repotting Mix

Ian Parsons, Vice Chairman of the British Orchid Council, advises: “Orchid mixes should not contain peat. It can damage the roots of many orchids, and can be detrimental to the health of the plant.”

If you would like everything to re-pot an orchid in a kit, why not consider an Orchid Repotting Kit?

Reviews from Amazon:

I replanted my orchd and it is thriving well. more blossoms have appeared, good all round product.

Bought this repotting mix not knowing what to expect. The bag seemed a bit pricey (although I hadn't done a price comparison)and smaller than expected and just seemed to contain bits of bark/coconut shell. However, I replanted my dormant looking orchids, and they seem to like it. New roots and even a shoot is coming through. Perhaps this would have happened anyway, but I've never been very successful with orchids, although I am now trying harder to look after them. I looked online for advice from orchid experts, after buying this product, and apparently this type of mix is the most suitable for orchids as it absorbs moisture but keeps the roots relatively dry.

Excellent. All my re-planted pot orchids doing well and sprooting lots new growth. Very pleased with result as my orchids were starting to die off from too much damp moss around roots. Washed off moss and cut back dying roots, started again with this fresh orchid bark mix and all orchids came back to life. Excellent product.

I grow a lot of orchids but do not have the time or inclination to mix my own compost which is what a lot of the serious growers do. I have tried many composts over the years but usually find they are either two fine, which compacts to much and the plants don't like, or are two bulky with huge bits of bark so they don't hold the plants firmly. This compost is the perfect mix of both. It's easy to use and my repotted orchids are thriving. My only complaint would be that although it comes in two sizes I would prefer a larger bag just because I have so many plants!

Tried another brand and the orchid roots rotted off this seems much better and our plants are picking up nicely. Thanks for the very prompt delivery.

This is a brilliant product which I am unable to buy locally. Have used it before and will again when I need to repot. Meanwhile my orchids are blooming.

I have re-potted my orchids in this compost and they have changed from being sad and dry to lush growth in a few weeks. I would recommend this product.

Perfect for orchids, good instructions for repooting included. Arrived early and well packed. My orchid is doing very well in this product and its roots are green and growing in a clear pot. Good product.

My orchid bloomed only a month after repotting using this stuff and a larger pot! I can't give it any more praise than that!

I bought two bags for my epiphytic cacti after a talk I attended on the subject. They are doing very well in it as it closely resembles what they naturally grow in. One of the bags had too many large lumps of bark but a quick whizz in a coffe blender soon sorted that out. The plant I bought at the talk has really taken off after planting it in a hanging pot. It is really happy in this medium. Pity is only comes in small bags but I have enough in two bags for my purposes at the moment. Amazon reviews led me to select this brand and I am very happy with it.

After going to all the garden centres in my area for orchid compost and finding no one sells it, i decided to order some from amazon. This product is a great price and my orchids are doing great. After having potted them up some weeks ago they are sending new leaves and flower shoots.

Brought this to repot my Orchids as they were burst out their old pots. Since repotting them they have grown bigger and are flowering more. Orchids are loving their their new repot mix. I would defiantly recommend this repotting mix.

Really excellent compost for my many orchids.

I really like the mix, some large chunks especially for the smaller orchids so you need to sort through it a bit. I ordered on line due to Garden centers not having the right potting mix in, saying that the day after this had been delivered I went to a garden center and saw this for £3 so it may be wise to look around first!! all in all it looks good quality orchid mix, I potted my plants up the same day this was sent and already I can see improvement.

My orchid has suffered a bit in recent years and I knew it needed to be repotted. The bag comes with instructions on how to repot your orchid on the back. The material is easy to use. Best of all, my orchid, which had been looking a bit despondent, now looks very happy and lush. And there was more than enough for my one little plant so I have enough for next time, or if I'm brave, to invest in another orchid!

I love orchids and have several on my windowsills. They were getting really potbound and one in particular was looking really sorry for itself. I bought the Orchid Focus and following the directions repotted it and now it looks much happier in a larger pot and has sent up some new shoots. Brilliant - I'm going to gradually repot all the others now! Great product.

This product is absolutely perfect for its primary purpose, repotting that sad Phalaenopsis you got at your leaving do or from the relative who doesn't like you. It had the perfect mix of bark and smaller substrates, as well as nutrients to feed the symbiotic relationship between the green gunk on the aerial roots and the plant's stomach. Personally, I use it as an ingredient in compost for pot-grown Lilium and other woodland species, where it opens up the mixture while providing a moisture retentive yet free-draining medium, cutting down on the use of peat in the process. Great stuff! I just need bigger bags!
