Event Days

We conduct orchid care talks, as well as terrarium workshops at garden centres and nurseries all over the country. With advice, repotting demonstrations, and tips on how to care for orchids and terrariums. Come along to an event - and why not bring your plant along for an MOT?

Orchid Care Talks

A typical orchid care talk is about 40 minutes, and is about 'plant care in the average home'. It is followed by a repotting demonstration and Q&A. People are also invited to take along their own plant to get any problems they may be experiencing diagnosed by an expert – like a ‘Orchid MOT’.

The advice is easy to understand, free from jargon and is supported by complimentary leaflets for people to take home.

Terrarium Workshops

A typical workshop has a limited number of people, each with a small area to make their own terrarium.

There is a fee for attendance that includes the glass and all of the components. The workshop starts with a talk on terrariums and a demonstration of the various techniques and principles. The attendees are then invited and assisted to make their own unique piece of horticultural art.

Three important things to remember when buying a plant:

1. What environment does this plant-like? Can I provide it?  If not, consider buying a different plant that you can provide for.
2. Buy from a specialist or garden centre - they know plants - not a supermarket.
3. Love does not equal watering – love equals correct watering. Plants typically need more water in the summer when they grow faster, and less in the winter. It’s good to check your plants every week, but water in response to the plants’ needs, not to a set timetable.
